SLOVENIAN ALPS ‘LAND OF THE GOLDHORN’ TREK

10 – 15 September 2022

Join this fantastic charity challenge as we explore the stunning Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps. Mt Triglav [2,864m] is the highest peak of Slovenia and it provides the perfect backdrop for this challenge. Trekking for 4 days, we will explore the national park famous for it’s natural, cultural and heritage protection.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1 – Sat 10/09 Transfer from the airport [Ljubljana or Venice] to the accomodation in Pokljuka.

DAY 2 – Sun 11/09 [7-8hrs trekking – 13km – 1,400m elev] After breakfast we will set off on our trek from the scenic Pokljuka plateau (1,340m). Today we will take on 3 peaks; Visevnik (2,050m), Veliki Draski Vrh (2,240m), and lastly Tosc (2,273m). Here, majestic views of Triglav mountain open up. From there we will descend to Vodnikov Dom hut (1,817m) where we will stay the night.

DAY 3 – Mon 12/09 [7-8hrs trekking – 11km – 1,200m elev] Today will be the most exhilarating day of the trip. After breakfast we will set off towards Kredarica hut – the highest weather station in Slovenia at 2,515m. After a hot drink, we set off on ‘via ferrata’ to summit Mt Triglav (2,864m) – the highest point of our trip. From there we will descend back to Kredarica, after lunch we will continue our walk towards the Dolic hut (2,150m) where we will stay the night.

DAY 4 – Tue 13/09 [6-7hrs trekking – 10km – 500m elev] After Breakfast we will set off to the summit of Mt Kanjavec (2,569m); the last mountain top of our adventure. From there we start our descent along the breath-taking ‘Valley of the 7 lakes’. We will stay the night at The Triglav Lakes Lodge.

DAY 5 – Wed 14/09 [4-5hrs trekking – 8km] After breakfast we descent over 1,000m towards Lake Bohinj. After lunch we will be transported to our accommodation at Lake Bled. There will be plenty of time to relax and explore this stunning place. In the evening we will meet to celebrate our achievements!

DAY 6 – Thur 15/09 Transfer to the airport. Depending on the departure airport and the time of your flight, there may be opportunity to explore more of this beautiful country.

WHAT’S INCLUDED: Airport Transfers Twin share accommodation in hotels, Dormitory style accommodation in mountain huts on days 2,3 and 4, All food and drinking water from breakfast on day 2 to breakfast on day 6, English speaking mountain guides, BMC membership
