Join us for this 4-day hike along the ancient North Wales Pilgrim’s Way (a.k.a. Welsh Camino), walking in the footsteps of thousands of pilgrims finding their way to Bardsey Island long time ago, drawn to the place where the sun sets over the watery horizon at the end of the world.. We will cover the last 3rd of the route, walking 50 miles from Llanberis to Aberdaron! The route will take us via prehistoric stone circles, ancient churches, thousand year-old stone crosses, sacred springs and waterfalls.
You will pass through magical woodlands and across great rivers, up mountains and along coast paths spattered by salty air, along ancient roadways, through wilderness and human settlements. Tiny stone churches nestled into the hills provide shelter and rest along the Way, much as they would have done in the past – original pilgrim places. Manley Hopkins, RS Thomas and several great Welsh poets have all taken inspiration here, as you may do too.
You will be transferred from CAFT (WA14 3RE) to Llanberis on Thursday morning, briefly visiting chapel in Holywell at the start of the official route. We then start our walk in the late morning, arriving to our accommodation in Y Fron 8.6 miles later. Second day we will cover 12.5 miles, soon arriving to the coastline on Llyn peninsula. Saturday will see our longest day – covering 15 miles along the beautiful Wales Coastal Path. Last day we will walk 12 miles and finish in Aberdaron before transfer back home.
We will stay 3 nights in Canolfan Y Fron – modern bunk-style accommodation (https://www.canolfanyfron.org/en/accommodation).
